Our Senior class officers of 1968-69 were Chris Holloway -President, Monica Shaw - Vice President, Faye Hayden - Secretary, and Rick Zimmerman, Treasurer. To begin the year we sold magazines. Everyone was competing for high salesman. Tom Casteel and Charlie Coultas sold the most magazines. Our lovely Homecoming Queen was Jody Schuster. Her Senior Attendants were Carol Burrows, Jane Sid well, Mary Phillips, Yvonne Voelker, Marteena Boyd, and Faye Hayden. Our great contribution to the bonfire was our huge rocket. It was great fun making it. The Seniors are represented efficiently on the Student Council by Karen Ghrist -President, with Mike Bartlett, John Ruzich, Marilyn Mink, Elizabeth Caughlan, and Jody Iftner assisting. We had only one Senior cheerleader who did an excellent job. Teresa Bergman has been an excellent cheerleader all four years. April was the month for the presentation of Look Homeward, Angel, by the Thespians and Senior Class. Several Seniors were in the play or participated back stage. The school will remember the fine performances by David Harmison and Joyce Lowry along with Teresa Bergman, Mike Bartlett, Helen Apps, Sharon Killebrew, Ralph Edwards, and John Ruzich. The D. A. R. winner was Yvonne Voelker and the S. A. R. winner was Glenn Cooley. The class citizenship awards went to Karen Ghrist and Gary Grogan. Two Seniors, Teresa Bergman and Glenn Cooley, received the all-school citizenship awards. It’s been a great year, one I'm sure we will remember for years. Good luck to all the Seniors in whatever they may do. RUSS ADAMS HELEN APPS MARY JANE BAKER MARTEENA BENJAMIN TERESA BERGMAN THELMA BLACKETER J. N. Homecoming rally 1969! The 1st Dance. Dinny and the Witches” February 20 22 A SATIRE ON THE MATERIALISM OF THE MODERN WORLD Directed by Jon Robb This year the National Thespian Society decided to present something a little different from their usual mid-year play; and they did. Dinny and the Witches is a fantasy-comedy which thoroughly delighted the audience. The plot centers around Dinny (Jim Riley), a young man in search of happiness and identity, Amy (Carol Burrows), with whom he hopes to find it, and the three witches of the world: Zenobia (Joyce Lowry), the head witch; Luella (Peggy Williams), the nit-witch; and Ulga (Susan Synold), the death witch. By an odd quirk of fate, tne power of the world passes from the hands of the three witches into Dinny's. All time stops, and the world is topsy-turvy. Anything goes now and just about anything went. Mrs. Miles designed a thoroughly original and creative stage. The play itself fluctuates between reality and fantasy. Mrs. Miles unusual scenery made it possible to cross that line without changing the set. One difficulty facing the audience was determining what the mood and tone of the play would be; the scenery played a major part in helping them decide. The play was a great success and the juniors did a fine job in promoting it. How do you know it's been one hundred years? The theme was carried out in blues, grays, and blacks, decorated as a large castle. The drawbridge and shields on the walls were very characteristic of the castle era. At the back of the gym there was a genuine dungeon done entirely in black. This added an effect of mystery to the activities and added to the castle-like atmosphere. The Comic Book Society provided music for the formal dance from 8:30 to 11:30 P. M.; the Nea-Plese Swift played at the 12:30 to 2:00 A.M. casual dance. Both bands were placed on risers directly opposite the queen's throne. Jeff Ransom carried the crown to Jim Riley, after which he crowned Miss Bonnie Bergman 1968-69 Prom Queen. Her attendants were Chris Capps, escorted by Buddy Crowder; Rexan Dinsmore, escorted by Brice Irving; Noue Niebur, escorted by Tom McCartney; and Vickie Stickman, escorted by Fred Grote. At 12:30 A. M. the Prom was completely destroyed by the Seniors, while the Juniors sadly watched. The Silencers, the movie for this year, was hilarious, and everyone enjoyed it. After a breakfast of juices and rolls at 4:00 A.M., everyone went home to have pleasant dreams of Love Is Blue. ” 73 Rexan Dinsmore, escorted by Brice Irving Noue Niebur, escorted by Tom McCartney Jim Riley and Queen Bonnie Bergman Crown Bearer Jeff Ransom Chris Capps, escorted by Robert Crowder Vickie Stickman, escorted by Fred Grote 74 ORGANIZATIONS Editors: FAYE HAYDEN MARY BORROWMAN 75 FIRST ROW: Miss Harpole, Advisor; Dan Barrow, Treasurer; Debbie Roodhouse, Secretary; Noue Niebur, Vice-President; Karen Ghrist, President.
