The Freshman Initiation Last September the Freshmen Initiation took place in the second week of school. All summer long we had to shine shoes and button. On Freshman Day we were a mass of lipstick, paint, and shoe polish. That afternoon we had a party in the gym. The Freshmen boys had their jeans and shirts on wrong side out and backwards. Several boys had starch in their hair. The girls had their clothes on wrong side out and backwards and their hair in braids. For the entertainment Barbara Ode and Karen Willsey sang a duet accompanied by Sarah King. Lois Brunberg played a piano solo and Doris McConnell played an accordion solo. C. A. Bradburn gave a good speech. Every boy and girl had to shout their name and button several times before the student body. Four boys gave a style show, which everyone got a big kick out of. Ben Johnson was called back several times to model” his outfit. There was a shoe scramble and do I mean a shoe scramble! We all had a grand time and there was never a dull moment all Freshman Day. 30 PIKE COUNTY COAL LUMBER CO.
