CLASS PROPHECY Dear Friends, Well, to start with, we'll let you know that the walls of P.H.S. are still standing. Everyone seems to think they will continue to stand for quite some time since they survived the class of '54. Upon hearing of Donna Bell Simmons’ position as private secretary with the Hayden Saving and Loan Company of Duluth, Minnesota, we decided to look into the careers of other members of our class. Donna is now holder of the World's Champion Typing record at 138 words per minute. Leota Myers is head bookkeeper of the same firm. Phyllis, Flaming” Curtis and Marlene Marvelous Pfeiffer are quite a hit singing their popular western songs. They are accompanied by Jerry Grimes on his guitar. Gene Ray is now completing plans for building an airship to Mars. Dick Daigh will attempt the flight sometime in 1972. Don Smith, who has tired of farming and wants adventure, will go along for the ride. We recently heard that Jim Harmison is the new president of the Mogen David Wine Industry. We are thinking about paying him a call. David Plattner is employed in the undertaking business as owner of Plattner Paradise Chapel. Bill Doyle is now in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where he is one of the judges of the Miss America Beauty Contest. From what we hear, the wheels are kept turning each year at the International Stock Show in Chicago by A. D. Bauer. Joyce Petty and Mary Ruth Murphy continued their career as soda jerks by locating in Miami, Florida. They are employed as the head soda jerks of the United States. The name of their place is Jerky J’s Joint. Of course, nothing but soft drinks are served at their fountain. Joyce (Harmison) Butler is living in California near an Air Force base, where her husband is stationed. We spent a very enjoyable afternoon seeing the sights of California under her guidance. Bob Grammer, proprietor of the Stork Club is doing quite a business now days. Bud Robertson, head waiter, escorted us (Dolores Reinhart and Marilyn Klinefelter) to our table upon entering the club. We noticed the bartender, Bill Harter, was kept busy. Charles Lowery and Jim Sidwell were February 26, 1968 the feature attraction of the evening. Their act is known as the Lowery and Sidwell comedian team. They are the present day's Martin and Lewis. We noticed Catherine Cunningham at a table not far from ours. We learned of her employment with the American Airlines in San Francisco. As we were leaving we ran into GeorgAnn (Sapp) Fish who, at the time was visiting in California, but is from Summer Hill, Illinois. From the headlines of a well known California paper we read that Alfred Smith is now starring with Marilyn Monroe in Now or Never produced by Harman Hahn. Sue Watson stars in a beautiful water scene in the picture. The million dollar gambling casino, The Golden Nugget” in Las Vegas, which is owned and operated by Lee Bonds and Jack Logsdon, is now featuring an exclusive floor show. Appearing in this show are Vera Stroud, Claudette Kason, Finetta Garman, Dorothy Windmiller, and Shirley Kelley. The one and only male star of the show is Marvin Pedro Fesler. We saw one of our school day twirlers, Wava Aiken, working as cigarette girl. We were in Indianapolis to see Harold Capps win the 1964 Indianapolis Speedway. Don Baughman came in second, with Charles Graham as a close third. While we were there, we also saw Jim Halpin in the Motorcycle races. George Willis is managing the Willing Willis Truck Line. A few of his drivers are Reckless Rex Wade, Rattlebrain” Raymond Payne, Jerky” Jim Lee, and Jumpy Jon Payne. Jim Kattleman and Ed Shelton are head mechanics. On arriving in Pittsfield for a long delayed visit we learned of the recent purchase of Floyd's Jewelry Store by Jim Yoken. His chief saleswoman is Carlene Parks. Maxine Norton, Joyce Faris, Donna Rae Harshman, and Charlotte James are employed as models at Floyd’s, where a style show of jewelry is presented once a month. Upon picking up a newspaper we were astonished to see that one of our old friends, Carol Thrasher, was now the editor of that paper. (Continued on Page 78)
