December 9, 1 965 To Sheriff Duane Lyman Pike County, Illinois Dear Duane, Having heard of your national alarm about the escape of the notorious bank robbers. Bob Ghrist, Floyd Scranton and Lowell Hubbard with gun Moll Jean Sparks, I thought I had better tell you they are hiding out in New York in an old boarding house run by Ada Sittlerand Virginia Freed. I saw them the other day when they tried to steal the fabulous jewels of debutants Ann Seybold, Helen Ryan, and Dorothy Saylor. The debutants phoned theF.B.I. but the agents, Arthur Smith and Gene Zumwalt, couldn't shed much light on the case. Governor of NewYork, Norman Nobel, has taken drastic action to put an end to these criminals. That is about all I have to report on the case but Iwould like to tellyou howmuch lappreciate reading the county newspapers now published by Sue Hoover and Jim Rutledge with reporters Rosalie Willsey, Pauline Niccum, Gene Seybold, and J. W. Kane bringing in news of all descriptions. 1 see in the paper that Jack Ducey, Carl Benson, Bill Parks, and Lou Predmore have bought the Rancho and McCarters. I suppose they thought they could save a little money by doing this. I would sure like to see their floor show featuring chorus girls. Marge Swanson, Ann Williams, Jeannine Lowe, Ardith Payne, and Beverly Lee with C. W. Losch as featured juggler and Yo-Yo-advisor. teachers as Karolyn Beatty, Marilyn Carrothers, Katherine Sheppard, and Louella Dixon, whogives drum lessons. Norma Sloan is faculty advisor of the yearbook and Dick Wilson and Tony Roy are employed as janitor and handyman. In Coney Island I found Andy Chaplin and Lyndle Gratton who are owners of the Bowling Alley. They say they have such famous bowlers as Sherrill Aucoin, Jessie Winner, Betty Barrow, and Ona Garner. The pin boys are Junior Norton and Richard Ransom. On down the midway, I came upon the dazzling advertisement of Erm Brosie's Peep Show where Carol Loutzenhiser sells tickets and Leslie Garner announces the acts. They have such stars as Lois Doyle, Dorothy Ervin, Veda Willard and Pat Sanderson . Charles Butler and Roger Smith are the business managers with the former getting the most of the profits. Across the midway, Byrl Craigmiles and Betty Hull operate a hotdog stand with Thelma Ballard as the chief cook and bottle washer. Down in Philidelphia, Jobn Petty and Keith Smith have invented—of all things—flying duck decoys. Their publicity agents are Curtis Marshall and Gene Owens. Darrell Morton and Donald Dell are also inventors having invented television sets with built-in refreshment stands. Richard Lacy purchased the patent for the television shows so he could place Alice Reeder in the role of Ma Perkins. I understand that Ruth Ann Neese, Betty Taylor, Glenna Brokaw, and Audrey Howell caught themselves a man in the annual Sadie Hawkin's Day race in which Marlene Denton had previously caught two. Bill Blake .Miss McGuire We Juniors have had a very happy and prosperous year under the expert guidance of Miss McGuire. We elected officers as soon as school started. When the final vote aame in, the students that were chosen to lead the class for the following year were: President, D. D. Petty; Vice-President, Frances Daigh; Secretary, Benny Newman Treasurer, Bill Blake. The Juniorclass was rather small this year with only 75 students - 29 girls and 46 boys. The Juniorclass play, You're The Doctor , was directed by Miss Beukerand Phil Mink, student director. The proceeds of the play were $354.00; the netprofit was $277.00. We Juniors are eagerly looking forward to the Junior-Senior Banquet, which we hope will be the best ever given by a Junior Class. Joann Williams and Carrie McCartney were two nice looking and worthy attendants to the Queen in our fifth annual Homecoming. We are also very proud of all the boys who went out for sports. We also had many students who did a fine job in band. These characteristics make the Junior Class one of the best classes in ourhigh school.
