BOYS OF CLASS OF '45 IN THE SERVICE HARVEY DEAN INGRAM. Coxswain. Chub is on board the State of Mary- land in the South Pacific. VVILLIAM LEE SPRINGER, Sl! c. Billy took his boot training at Farragut, Idaho, and is now somewhere in the Pacific attending radar school. PVT. WILBUR CAWTHORN. No information available. ROBERT D. RUBLE, S2lc. Bob joined the Navy August ll, 1943 and had his boot training at Farragut. He was on board the U. S. S. Hermitage and has been to New Zealand, Society Islands, Australia, India, New Guinea, New Caledonia, Ireland and England. LYNDLE IRICK. S2lc. Lyndle joined the Navy in Ianuary, 1944. He received his boot training at Great Lakes and has been in three major battles-Leyte, Mariannas, Tin- ian. He spent 42 hours in the ocean when the Gambier Bay, a small aircraft carrier, was torpedoed. Lyndle is now at Bremerton, Washington. EARL BENSON, A. M. O. 3!c. Zeke enlisted in August 1943, was trained at Farragut and is now in Ha- waii going to a gunner's school. IOHN RAY GHRIST, Sllc. Enlisted in the Navy, Ianuary 20, 1944. He had his boot training at Great Lakes and was sent to Shoemaker, California. He was then transferred to the Hawaiian Islands and is still there as a cook. BILL BAGBY. Beeler was the first of our class to leave. He had his boot training at Great Lakes and is now at Little Creek, Virginia re- ceiving training in radar. Nineteen GERALD ROBERTS, Q. M. 3lc. Lefty enlisted in the Navyin August 1943, received his boot at Farragut and was put aboard the U. S. S. Hermitage. He served in the Pacific for six months and was transferred to the Atlantic where he is still serving. He has been ashore in fourteen different countries, serving in four invasions. HARVEY REEL. S2lc. Is stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. He received his boot at Great Lakes, No Pictures Available of the Following: Pvt. Lyndle E. Schafer was inducted in- to the U. S. Marine Corps on Ian. 3, 1945. He is now stationed at Paris Island, S. C., where he is taking his basic training. Asahel leffers AXS-leff joined the Navy in Ianuary l945. At the present time, he is receiving his boot training at Great Lakes. Carl Leahr S2fc--took his boot at Great Lakes. He is now in the South Pacific. Robert Greathouse - No information available. In March, Bill Howell, Wayne Piper, Wendall Hall, Bill Hoover, Iunior Landess, Ir. Butler, Alvin Saylor and lames Walston joined the Navy. They are receiving their boot training at Great Lakes, and some expect to be back for graduation. Hayward Smith, Dick Shive and C. L. Harshman have been inducted into the service, and at the present time, are await- ing their calls. This information may not be complete but it is the best the Annual Staff could secure.
