Experimentation is vital to learning. The Biology Department offers baccalaureate de- gree programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Science in Education. Majors are offered in Biology, General Science, Medical Tech- nology and the teaching of biology. Minors are offered in biology, general science, and health education. Master of science degrees are offered with an emphasis in Botany, Microbiology, and Zoology. A Master of Science in natural science is also available. Each year several students from KSC enter medical or dental schools after having completed a baccalau- reate degree in biology. The department also offers pre- professional training in forestry, nursing, osteopathy pharmacy and veterinary medicine. On campus the department has ten well-equipped laboratories with modern instrumentation and has sev- eral research areas for staff members and graduate students. Many students majoring in biology are given opportunities at both the graduate and undergraduate level to serve as laboratory assistants. Students find lab work beneficial. 29

Accuracy and efficiency are cultivated skills of business majors. To meet the demands of business the Department of Business Administration offers programs in the following areas: accounting, finance, marketing, busi- ness administration-liberal arts, and office adminis- tration; all lead to a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. A business education program is available for those desiring to go into business teach- ing. At the graduate level a masters degree program is provided for business teachers. Last year repre- sentatives from over lOO companies visited the cam- pus to interview KSC business students for various positions; a total of over 500 inquiries were received for possible business teachers. Modern equipment aids in developing skill. To encourage student leadership, chapters of vari- ous recognized national professional business organ- izations are available for majors and minors in KSC business department. They include: Alpha Kappa Psi, professional business administration fraternity for men; Pi Omega Pi, national honor society for business administration; Phi Beta Lambda, international future business leaders of America; and the Society for Ad- vancement of Management. 31
