College Theater is a part of Language and Literature. Language And Literature Encompasses Many Activities The yearly activities of the Language and Literature department are many and varied, in- cluding college plays, book lectures, as well as the Language in Action conferences held twice each year. This department includes courses taught in English, foreign languages, journalism, and speech, and literature. Those taking a major in English, foreign languages,journalism, speech, or an area major that does not require a minor may enroll in this department. Clubs associated with the department are the Press Club, the Language and Literature Club. Departmental honorary fraternities are Pi Delta Epsilon Qjournalismj, Pi Kappa Delta Cspeechj, Sigma Tau Delta fEnglishQ, and Theta Alpha Phi fdramaticsj. There are over 230 language and literature majors in the department headed by Dr. Robert- son Strawn. Various other activities of the school are re- lated closely to the department, such as the g'Collegio , and the debate team.

Ed-Psych Continues Educational Program The Education and Psychology department continues to direct an education program for all grades in Horace Mann Elementary School, the seventh through the twelfth grades at Col- lege High school Cthe laboratory schoolsj, and the four years of college for the bachelorls de- gree. The fifth year for the master's degree, and the sixth year for the Specialist in Education degree are also a part of the program. Department efforts are directed toward pro- vision of better facilities in research and services in education. Improved offerings are made available in psychology, guidance and counsel- ing, special education, and philosophy. A small Top Row: Dr. Aaron W. Harper, Chairmang Eileen Tress- ler, Dr. William Bray, Dr. Paul Dixon, Dr. E. G. Kennedy. animal laboratory for psychology, speech and reading clinics, and a curriculum library are maintained. Committees of faculty members met during the year in preparation for an NCATE visita- tion team scheduled for this school year. The committee concern was for possible improve- ments in teacher education at KSC and more specifically to qualify the institution for con- tinued accreditation in teacher education on a national basis.
