Business Department Grows Kansas State College of Pittsburg has one of the fastest growing business departments in this area. In the past ten years, it has experienced a growth of over 275 per cent in enrollment. Chapters of various national professional busi- ness organizations are available for majors and minors in the KSC business department. Included are Alpha Kappa Psi, professional business fra- ternity for men, Pi Omega Pi, national honorary business education fraternity, Phi Beta Lambda, international future business leaders of America, Society for the Advancement of Management, and the National Collegiate Secretaries Associa- tion. Chairman of the department is Dr. Ralf A. Thomas. As an integral part of the community and area the business department sponsors many short- term seminars and conferences for business, in- dustrial and teacher organizations. Biology Department Ranks High Pittsburg's Biology Department continues to rank among the top in the nation. With a staff headed by Dr. Ralph Kelting, the department is training students both for professional graduate work in biological areas, and for teaching. The department offers three baccalaureate degrees: Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Education. Three degrees offered at the graduate level are: Master of Science, Master of Sci ence in Natural Science, and Specialist in Education Besides the regular biology program, these are of- fered by the department: pre-medical, pre-dental, pre osteopathy, three years of medical technology, a two year pre-degree nursing program, and preparatory work in conservation, agriculture, wildlife manage- ment, veterinary medicine, pharmacy and mortuary science. A research laboratory on the Research Reserve, five miles west of Pittsburg, was completed last year for the use of graduates and undergraduate research.
