Jr. Class Won Top' Honors At Summer Camp The military science department, now in its elev- enth year on campus, provides training in leadership, citizenship, and military technology for all male students in the first two years of college and, for those who qualify, an opportunity to become com- missioned officers in the Army. Some 270 graduates have received commissions and are serving in all areas of the world. Lt. Col. james W. Brandon, Sr. is chairman of the department. Significant achievements within the department include top honors won by the junior class at the 1963 summer camp with the highest average grade Top Row: Lt. Col. James W. Brandon, Chairman. Robert Charland, Sp. Harold Snyder. for overall performance among forty senior division colleges and universities represented. This is the fifth time in eight years that the KSC cadets have been rated first, and they were second the other three. In addition, the ROTC band, one of the largest in the midwest, represented KSC and the state at New Orleans in the 1963 and 1964 Mardi Gras parades. Outstanding events of the year prepared and pre- sented by the Corps of cadets included Military Night at the Pitt State-Omaha University game, the twelfth Annual Military Ball, and the Annual Fed- eral inspection.
