Un Sunday after- noon, Septemlier ll, students and their families Were guests at a reception in the Student Center. The hustle and hustle of enrollment liegan early Monday morning. With the college,s greatly in- creased student lmody this fall, the experience was especially harrowing. The lines, including the one at the hook store, seemed never to end. An all-school convocation was held on Septem- ber 30. At this assembly, President Axe officially opened the 58th year of Kansas State College. In his speech, the President stressed the great need for maximum development of the mind. This opening convocation had been postponed twice lmecause of late installation of new seats in Carney Auditorium. On October 3, with a gold shovel, President Axe broke the ground for the construction of a new edu- cation and psychology building. Pictured with the President are Frank Freeto and L. B. Carlyon.
