faculty slice watermelon Each summer the college sponsors a watermelon feed for families of faculty and students. This year the feed was held July 27 at the college lake. Presi- dent Axe led the department and administrative heads in the slicing of over 4000 pounds of Water- melon. This procedure of slicing melons has been a tradition on the summer K-State campus for many years. The feed was preceded by a performance of the college band. 1 ' :LAP shi. 'I7

ccimpus cictivities continue GORILLA BOOSTER breakfast ANNUAL BooK exhibit The college was host to many activities through- out the summer. On June 28 and 29 the Kansas Bookmenis Association Annual Book Exhibit was set up in the ballroom of the Student Center. Com- pany salesmen were present to talk to those inter- ested in special textbooks. Also, coaches and in- terested townspeople attended the annual Gorilla Booster breakfast. This breakfast is the kickoff to a fund raising drive for football scholarships. In addition, the music department sponsored a music festival for high school youth of the surrounding area. One-hundred talented students were given this supplemental music training. Many took advantage of the opportunity to go to Starlight Theater. Those students Wishing to see HRose Mariei' purchased reserve tickets in the busi- ness office and rode to Kansas City in college buses. .t a t 'VT' Q -tfilli af.
