The department faculty, working on the thesis that their purpose is to make students learn, has worked up an enviable record of graduates who are now leading participants in the business world and teaching profession. The department offers instruction in the basic math courses, training teachers for secondary schools and junior colleges. The relatively new field of statistics, fast gaining popularity, is explored in this department with the trainee qualified for many job opportunities in the related areas of quality control and actuarial science. Mathematics is a necessary tool in all branches of engineering, science, technology and industrial arts. And here, under the direction of the professors, proper control of that tool is developed in each student. The department prepares majors and minors in mathematics leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Education, Master of Science and the Master of Science in Education.
