CAFETERIA MRS. MAUD SIMPSON 1, Mrs. Maud Simpson's death on December 5, 1944, 'came at the be- ginning of her thirty-second year of service with the cafeteria. ln Novem- ber, 1913, following the death of her husband, she came to Pittsburg with her two small sons, and had been connected with the cafeteria ever since. ,She had a magic touch in the handling of food and the handling of people, and institutional cookery was a foreign phrase to the College cafeteria, regardless of how many hundreds were served each day. The cafeteria Was Mother Simpson's domain and students, all through the years, enjoyed the finest meals of her planning. The Navy V-12 trainees were especially appreciative of the touches of home she gave them, and letters have come from many of them, since her death, paying tribute to her and her kindly Ways. Her devotion to her sons was a beautiful thing and reflected in the kindness she showed to all College students. Her gracious ways and untiring service will not be forgotten soon.. I - 1 1 11' 1 1 1.
