Mez wwf 3 The Italians founded the word Graffiti, the anonymous one line scribblings found on fences, sidewalks and Walls. - In the past graffiti has ranked low on the literary scale, but lately the messages have gained respect. Since grafitti has become so popular and lives forever, what better theme could you have for the 1974-75 Purple and White. I The pages of this book are the grafitti of this year written upon the walls of time. bw 'x Q x x 'X 'Sk 6 w 5--Q-rwT43.v Zk'x:. 9 ' ' ' 7 I believe in the sun, ' even when it does not-' shine. School has started and everyone is doing their own thing. Even the policeman gets involved. You can eat watermelon, or eat lunch in Coomers' truck, sit on the front lawn and watch the boys go by. You can go to band practice at 7: 15 a.m. or go to the game with the gang. And if you're in the mood you can even do a little studying. u--f 6 W 3 6 I 'HFEFWQ MT ' f '1 Frances Hagman George E. McLlvain Treasurer Administrative Assistant Karen Garman Judy Bradrick Secretary to Superintendent Food Services Director Betty Burden Patti Gartner Clerk-Typist Secretary Hazel Shelton John H. Williamson Clerk, Board of Education Purchasing Agent Property Accountant Dr. Jack Recd - Superintendent Mr. David Huffman - Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jack Reed, Superintendent of District 250 is in his 4th year of ad- ministration. Dr. Reed, originally from Chanute is quite a sportsman. His activ- ities give him an occasional breather from the pressures of being Superin- tendent. Dr. David Huffman, Assistant Super- intendent, tills most of his spare time with his hobbies, antiquing, camping, or canoeing. These things help to break away from the everyday life of Assistant Superintendent. Mr. Grisolano and Mr. Kabance split the alphabet be- tween themselves. Each day their offices are swamped with kids who want some counseling and believe it or not they have time for everyone. Eleanor Martin works in the outer office where she assists the guidance counselors. Mr. Garrison is the placement Specialist. Mrs. Thompson is the librarian assistant who is really a lot of help to all the kids that come in to use the library. John Harry English 81. The death of this Coach on October 8, 1974, stunned friends, faculty and students, and he will live on in memory. i 5 S 2 During the 1974 football season the purple dragons again proved to be a major powerhouse in the S.E.K.L. Starting the season off with a come from behind overtime victory over independence the Dragons then breezed by the next 3 opponents by not al- lowing a point to be scored on them. Then the battle of the unbeatens as the Dragons meet arch-rival Ft. Scott at Hutchinson Field for the homecoming contest. The dragons came up on the short end ofa 31-19 score. This marked the first time in six years P.H.S. had been defeated on it's home field. A string of 24 games which was the longest home field winning stretch in the state. Following the loss the Dragons offense came into it's own. The last four regular season games were sparked with fantastic execution as P.H.S. scored 34,4l,27,37 points all against quality opponents. Entering the playoffs for the 4th year in the 6 year history of the state games the Dragons had high hopes for a state championship. Getting one T.D. called back and a score of other bad breaks the successful '74 season was ended by a heart-breaking loss to K. C. Miege 21-7.
