CAP, California Assessment Program Examination, was given to all seniors in California and ranked Pittsburg with other state high schools. CAP measured reading, written expression, spelling and math skills. Last year's class raised Pitts- burg's scores, thus improving our im- age. That publicity raised the Class of '87's interest and expectations. Students, teachers and parents became more involved in an effort to help the students. The week prior to the testing, Li- dia Stiglich and Evette Castillo co- chaired a CAP rally to inspire sen- iors to do the best they could. Our school needed the reputa- tion boost while the students needed one for morale.
