Becker coaches golf 8 years by Shelley Doolittle and Theresa Krut Since 1967, Mr. .lack Becker has coached golf in addition to his teaching assignment in the business department. This year we had 4 returning and 2 new golfers and they all have improved a lot, especially Philomeno Cardinole. Decker felt that Chuck Dyer was the most valuable player on the team. Last year the team's record of 6-11, was pretty good, commented Becker. They competed against 8 different schools and participated in a FAL tournament in April. Cardinale, golf veteran for 3 years said she had a good time playing on the team. The guys treated me like one of them. The team practiced every day after school at Pittsburg Golf ond Country Club. The school supplied balls, gloves, and shirts but the players provided shoes and golf clubs. We hope to see many new, young and inspiring golfers in the years to come, added Becker. VARSITY GOLF
