Acuna wins crown by Jennifer Puccio Margle Acuna was crowned Miss Plroteer 1984 by Rona Taylor, reigning queen of 1983, on the night of December 14. Lorralne Harrls, dance commls- sloner, introduced each girl and her escort. A majorlty of the ladies were dressed in the hlgh fashlon Guinne Sax style, whlle the men mostly wore dress shirts and sweaters. The theme of the donce was Lady, You Are, wlth silver and blue decorations coverlng the walls and tables. Acuna has been the class' presldent for 4 consecutive years, an actlve member of Student Leadershlp, 3-year veteran flag-twlrler, and the presldent of the Performing Arts Club. which nominated her. The 1984 Mlss Plroteer dance was not very successful since only about 200 students attended. Other members of the court were as follows: Kristine Styers, Miss Football: Llnda Nanez, Mlss Tennis. Lloren wins ugliest by Danielle Nichols Brlan Lloren was crowned Mr. Ugly man by Mlss Pirateer, Margie Acuna at the tradltlonol Uglyman dance, held February 15 from 8-11, in the North Cafeteria. The student body chose Lloren from an lnltlal group of 9 young men nominated to a court of 7. The court, their escorts and titles follow: Brian Lloren, Mr. Uglyman, and Sylvla Bocanegra: Derrek Souders, Sir Francls Drake and Stacl Moran: Willy McGIIl, Long John Silver, and Dawn Amundson: Roger Bacllg, Captain Bly, and Theresa Hilado: Kevin Williams, Blackbeard. and Andrea Brown: .llmmy Jones, Captaln Hook, and Kearson Malmgren, .Ioe Silno, Captain Kldd, and Michelle Matejcek. Dressed In black and white tuxedos wlth tolls and whlte gloves enhanced the red. blue and white decoratlons that fllled the room. The court and their escorts danced to Careless Whispers by Whaml played by Satln Star Productions. The dance commlttee consisted of Lorralne Harrlsfcommlsslonerb, Frank Pizzlmentl Cadvlsorb, JoAnn Castillo, Mlke Crespo, Lashon Craig, Mia Fabela, Darcel Guslmat, Vlcki Hunter, and Martln Soares. 1.
