Rallies begin spirit by Diana Velez Rallies helped support football and basketball games with spirit and enthusiasm. Tony Blackman, spirit commis- sloner, worked with her committee to plan rallies with various spirit stunts and a wlde variety of student participation. The purpose of the rallies was to promote school spirit throughout the school and to enhance the spirit throughout the community. Beatstreet rally was successful, consisting of a rapping and breaking contest, involv- Ing many people, Including Desmond Smith, a local DJ. Other themes were Purple Rain, and Pirate Hoedown .
