Ski clubs differ by Dina Duran The Snow Club and the Water Ski Club, which sound alike, were very dlfferent. Under the dlrectlon of advlsors. Sara Jean Wood, Andy Aiello, Joanie Orlando, and Jess Leber, the Snow Ski club sold burrltos and vlsors at football games, popcorn, Chrlstmas candles, and worked Blngo on Sundays. The club Is very anxious to go skiing, sald advisor Wood. Presiding offlcers were: David Jeans, president, Kristine Styers, vlce-presldent, Kearson Malmgren, Secretory, Natalie Narez, secretary, Patti LaCasse, ICC rep., Eddie Bokinski and Brent Blrtcel, Sgt.-at-arms. Unllke the Snow Ski Club, the Water Ski Club dldn't have any fundraisers. The club pald thelr own way on trlps and shared costs for food and gas. lt's funny. We started with the smartest offlcers we ever had and they fell flat on thelr face, sald Water Skl Club advlsor, Ralph Smlth. The result was that the Water Ski Club dldn't have offlcers. Brian Lloren and Robert Wllllams, and Joe Sllno acted In charge. 3 CLUBS

E rhnic clubs inspire by Robin Small Ethnic clubs have been popular as well as Inspirational for students and advisors. President Toni Blackman said, The students that took the time to be In BSU were hard working and liked to get things done. l'm proud to be the president: it's a position I enjoyed hoIdlng. The cIub's 20 members attended the state convention for United Black Students of Callfornla ln March. They planned activities, sold spirit para- phernalia for basketball season, and hosted a Bay Area BSU conference. Presiding officers were: Black- man, president, Sharon Johnson, vlce-president, Bridgette Bell, secre- tary, LaShon Craig, treasurer, and Sheon Rivers, ICC representative. Lakaza, advised by Cecilia Solis, helped in the community and members achieved their goals, social- ly and culturally. Solis said, The club Improved a lot. lt has grown and matured soclaIIy. Presiding officers were: Diana Velez-Lopez, Hector Perez-Pacheco, vice president, Linda Nanez, secre- tary, and Richard Perez Pacheco, treasurer. MESA, Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement, advised by Randy Janes and Jim Wagner, helped students learn skllls for science, math, and engineering. Wagner was very proud of the club.
