Pep Club in Action Pep lub Cheers Pirates Three cheers for the Pittsburg Piratesli' The promotion of good sportsmanship and the leading of the teams to victory was again the Pep Clubis sole purpose. Under the leadership of Joe Berkich. advisor. and Sonia Verduzco. president. members have taken part in many new activities. They have sold pennants. popcorn balls. and cup cakes. Most important, they have supported their teams at both varsity and junior varsity games. Other first-semester officers were Jeannette DiMaggio. vice-president: Annette Vienna. secretaryg and Cathy Carpino. treasurer. Jeannette was elected president the second semester with Sonia. vice-president: Cathy. secretary: and Grace Ann Russo, treasurer. assisting her. Betty Gabbey and Roberta Heinrichson were elected sergeants-at-arms. a new office this semester. The Pep clubis merry members have participated in side-splitting skits presented in rallies this year. :These Are Your Lives. Knap. DeStefano. and Berkichf' was the last skit of football season. and the gym rocked with laughter. A sentimental note was added to the rally when the rally committee sang a parody of Thanks for the Menioriesf, written by Linda DiMaggio and Joyce Ro1fe,to the 1358 Pirates. .7 f

Lionel Aldridge, club president. started many activities for the club, which is finishing its second year. Other club officers were Joe Lucido, vice-president, Frank Matamoros, secretary-treasurerg and Bob Pardi and Norman Johns, sergeants-at-arms. Besides activities during the meetings the tentative plans for the club were to have a homecoming during football season as an annual club project. With Mr. Anthony Knap, club advisor. the club has enjoyed a very successful year. Approximately thirty-five lettermen hold membership in the club. which is open to anyone with a letter in any sport.
