Stockton, N. Nellis. Key lub Serves P.H. . The purpose of the Key Club is to build good citizens and to serve Pittsburg High School. The Key Club has pur- chased the scoreboard, which cost about 31,100 and took the club seven years to pay for it. They also bought the school banner. On November 2. the Key Club went to San Francisco to see the 49,ers in their battle with the Detroit Lions. They also held a car wash and sold pens to raise funds for the Miss Pirateer dance which they sponsored during the year. There are twenty-four members in the Key Club. This includes eight members from each class. Members are origin- ally chosen upon recommendations from the administration in the junior high and parochial schools. Members vote to fill vacancies occurring during the year. The Key Club is a part of a national organization. sponsored by Kiwanis lnternational. The club was organized at Pittsburg High in September. 1948. The advisor is Mr. John Conley. Officers who serve the full year are Max Basque, presidentg Frank Matamoros, vice-president: Noel Nellis, secre- tary: Steve Sanfilippo. treasurer: and Horace Enea, sanitary engineer.

H0619 labs Attract Man Completing its second year at Pittsburg High School. the Hamster Amateur Radio Club participated in various ac- tivities throughout the year. New equipment added this year were the oscillators built by the club members. Assisted by Mr. George O,Hara. the club members are organized to learn about amateur radio and electronics in general. Membership included Jan Van Westrrmp. Virgil Brownley. Tom Nicholas. Horace Enea. Alan Nicols. and Richard Pope. Under the supervision of Mr. Robert Olltincoln. the Chess Club held its meetings four days a week in the electric shop during the noon hour. Fall semester officers were Philip Gentile. president: James Funlcner. vice-president: Ray Edison. secretary: and Jan Van Vlfestrop. sergeant-at-arms. The spring officers elected were Paul Kayfetz. president: Ray Edison. vice-president: Jan Van Westrop. secre- taryg and Michael Dealey. sergeant-at-arms. Padilla. Thirt foe Lettermen rgcmize Guest speakers, movies, and other events were the main activities of the Lettermen's club. Lionel Aldridge, club president. started many activities for the club, which is finishing its second year. Other club officers were Joe Lucido, vice-president, Frank Matamoros, secretary-treasurerg and Bob Pardi and Norman Johns, sergeants-at-arms. Besides activities during the meetings the tentative plans for the club were to have a homecoming during football season as an annual club project. With Mr. Anthony Knap, club advisor. the club has enjoyed a very successful year. Approximately thirty-five lettermen hold membership in the club. which is open to anyone with a letter in any sport.
