Girls Learn, Home Care The homemaking department at Pittsburg tries to help girls learn how to operate and manage a home. The homemaking tear-hers are Nlrs. Eugenia Blum and Mrs. Ruth Carnill. There are seven areas studied in this program: housing, family and personal relationship, health, child care and guidance, clothing. and food nutrition. Classes study the seven areas during the three years of high school. progressing each year according to their level of achievement. The girls. however, decide what, when. and how each unit is to he studied to meet their needs and interests. Girls Get ffice Training ln the senior year of high school a student may take office practice. ln office practice girls learn to operate such machines as the mimeograph. adding machines, and electric typewriters. They also make the, master copy for the ditto machine and translate shorthand into letter form. Office-practice students often hear a guest speaker from the state employment office or a student speaker who gives a report having to do with the commercial department.
