Coach Macfarlane J i Varsity and B Track Bidding a farewell as Pittsburg high's track coach, Coach Sterling Macfarlane will take over the task of principal of Pittsburg high in the tall of l958. During the tive years he has coached Pittsburg's track teams, the varsity team has won one county championship, has plgced second for three years, and one year placed third. His light-weight teams have for tive straight years won the county championship. Coach Mactarlane's comments at the beginning of the track season were, We are very thin in the A's in numbers. Although we have good individuals, we need a lot of entries to win. The B's could be the strongest team I've ever had here. In the years he has coached here practically all of Pitts- burg's records have been broken. The records still existing in the varsity are these: 440, Wiley McLane Cl949D, 50.7, shot- put, John H. Johnson CI949l, 57' 4V2 , the discus, John H. Johnson H9493 l48' 3 , and the mile, A. Azevedo Cl9303, 4:37.4. The B records not yet broken are the shop-put which stands at 55' 6V2 made by Herk Pardi in 1938 and the I32O made by Al Casillas lI952l, 3:2O.8.
