Senior Band Under the direction of Mr. Clarence Fornwald and led by Judy Fornwald, drum maiorette, the senior band played for football and basketball games, rallies, the Columbus Day Parade, the Parade at Davis, the Armed Forces Parade, the California- Oregon game, the Mother's Day Parade, before civic clubs, and at graduation. The senior band consists of two parts: the concert band and the marching band. I'his explains why other schools have larger bands. Members of the band playing saxophones are Lonnie Mickey, Willie Mickey, Paul Mello, William Hill, Watkin Ary, Joaquin Aiello, Horace Enea, and Sydney Styers. Playing trumpets in the senior band are Ronnie Short, Eddy Munoz, Don Chatman, Jack Moore, Frank Favalora, Gene Hinoiosa, Aristeo Alfaro, Henry Johnson, Tom Cole- man, Ed Orozco, and Harry Mattson. On trombones are John Nord and Bob Melendez. On drums are Jess Marin, Ann Turner, Bob Moltett, Dorris Oakley, Tyrone Williams, and Russ Lombardo. Library Club OFFICERS: Judy Gundershaug, vice-president: Jan Nicoll, president, Larry Wood, treasurer, Nancy Parent, secretary. The main purpose of the Library club is to acquaint students with the thousands of books and many magazines in the library and to give them experience in the pleasures of reading. This year the club had book reviews of different types ot books given at the meet- ings and had guest speakers tell them about the library profession. Another activity they planned and which was successful was having films during the meetings. Their most important project this year was having a blind person come to the school to talk on the Braille system. 60

Throughout the year the rally committee vvorlcs at organ- izing and planning the rallies and Pep club activities. Six Pom-pom girls, three yell leaders, three little Pirates, and the president and secretary ot the Pep club make up the rally committee. Members ot the rooting section, who are also members ot the Pep club, are under the leadership ot the rally committee. Rallies, Rallies, Rallies! 1? 'wunm'
