The Lettermen's main purpose is to increase school spirit and leadership. The Key club felt that since the Lettermen were known tor their sports leadership, they could also take active part in school leadership. Among the club's activities was to usher at rallies and assemblies. Any athlete winning a letter in any sport is eligible tor membership.

After hoisting sails, however, rough waters came when Mrs. Gibbs became ill. But with the co-operation of a good crew, the Galleon managed to remain afloat until her return. Besides publishing the school paper, the Galleon staff also carried on its second year of putting out a high-school page for the Post-Dispatch. They also published football programs for all home games. Gaining memorable experiences and making new friends on the voyage, the Galleon staff docked its ship after a successful year. Hamsters Amateur Radio Club OFFICERS, Left to Right: John Galli, president, Larry Wood, vice-president, Horace Enea, secretary-treasurer. Organized at the beginning of the year, the Hamsters Amateur Radio Club, as- sisted by Mr. O'Hara, QK6SASJ studied code and communication theory. Their plans tor the future include a receiver and a transmitter tor the club mem- bers. Thev will then be able to transmit and have the practical application of operation when properly licensed. John Galli, the president, is the only licensed amateur in the club at the present time. The Hamsters, as they call themselves, have a maior obiective which is to help as many as possible to obtain licenses at an early date. 48
