He has done much to increase our school spirit. His time, energy, and determination have kept our athletic teams on the move. He is the faithful driver of our Dragon-Wagon when we travel to sports events out of town. Not only does he love football, basketball, base- ball, and track, but he also does a good job as general science teacher and keeps the freshmen boys physically fit. We proudly dedicate the fifth edition of THE DRAGONIAN to a man who puts his whole heart into our school life, our coach and friend, ADRIAN ALLRED, In the classroom Although we do not always understand and appreciate our administration, these men are the ones who make our school possible. Much planning has to be done behind the scenes and many important decisions must be made- Ad- ministrative positions are surely ones of great responsibility. ROY L. KIDD Principal WALTER R. The participation in school athletics gives us a renewed sense of sportsmanship and a feeling of pride for our school. It became a reality for the students with the declaration of School Spirit Week and Blue-White Day. As a re- sult, Dragon supporters cheered harder and louder than ever for our team. U.S. Pittsboro can be proud of its varsity squad this year, which in a hard-fought season, displayed the courage and spirit characteristic of our school. Seven of our boys were recognized by the conference: Johnny Blair, Tony Rhodes, Jimmy Riggsbee, Dave Sparrow, Louis Herndon, Jimmy Flynt, and W. C. Oldham. Johnny Blair has the honor of being chosen for All-State. The Blue Dragons, with a 6-1 conference record and a 7-3 over-all record, finished second in the conference as a result of the loss to Angier. This season 265 points were made by the Dragons, while only 119 were given up. The last game for the five seniors on the team— Johnny Blair, Carey Carpenter, Jimmy Flynt, Tony Rhodes, and Dave Sparrow— was quite a victory as P. H. S. romped 55-0 over Broadway. The team was rewarded with a trip to Washington to see the Redskins play. Good luck to next year ' s Dragons in hopes they will bring ho me the conference title! T.D. ! Over that magic white line.
