Dedication A generous, dedicated man who has exerted enormous influence on our lives, he came to Pitman High the same year the Class of 1970 entered as freshmen. In those four years, this man,s contributions to PHS as teacher, coach, and speech advisor have been innumerable and diversified. The relaxed atmosphere and interesting discussions in Room 101 transformed Latin, English, and public speaking into new learning experiences for many students. Others met him on the playing field while he managed the freshman baseball team and coached the Panther football squad. As speech advisor, he organized a debate team and forensics society, both of which have won many honors throughout the state. In 1968 he initiated a speech festival at Pitman which attracted many area schools. This man revised, wrote, produced, and directed Mara! Sade, bringing experimental theater with music and special effects to PHS. He designed and organized construction of the sets for the November 1968 junior- senior play, Twelve Angry Men. For three years he has presented in- spiring and entertaining Christmas assemblies. In addition to all this, he has given unlimited encouragement and energy to the Class of 1970 as its advisor in the junior and senior years. He has seen the seniors through pancake dinners, Tupperware demon- strations, pizza making, button drives, and T-shirt sales. With his support, prom 769, after-prom '70, and the senior class trip became successes. Through his prompting, seniors developed a spirit and pride in the Class of '70, This man has won immeasurable admiration from his kids. He fought for them when they were right, and he reproached them when they were wrong. When they were not sure of their direction, he guided them. Although often a defender of tradition, he was also an advocate of change. It is with appreciation and affection that the Class of 1970 dedicates the Talisman to Mr. Michael Giacchino. 'ox Y , ffm?
