MR. CARL A. NEWMAN Supervising Principal Mr. Newman has moved this year from his 1954 high school principal's position to that of supervising principal. Mr. Newman has beal to us a mentor and an inspiration. Not only does our supervising principal hold a high place in our esteem for his administrative ability, but a high place in our hearts for his exemplary character and friendly manner We the seruor class are grateful to Mr Newman school DRIY1 IDAI DR GEORGE J FIKE High School Principal This year we were very pleased to accept Dr George J Fike as our new high school principal Although this was his first year at Pitcairn High he has become a friend to each member of the class of 1955 and for this we wish to express our deep appreciation Dr Fike has been an adviser to each one who sought help and a guide to each student in the development of those traits necessary to a successful future Our thanks and praise go to Dr Fike

The school board members act as official re- presentatives of the people who elected them for the purpose of carrying out both educational policies as mandated by the state legislature and those policies necessary to meet the needs of our community. During the reorganization meeting for this year, the board elected Russell McCaig, Presidentg Frank Keeley, Vice-Presidentg and Myrtle Reese, Secretary. How our schools will serve society and youth is dependent to a large part on the manner in which the members of the school board carry out their essential duties. The Schoolboard of Pitcairn is providing the highest type of educational opportunity for its students that can be afforded within the frame- ll I I ,l LQ work of our financial limitations. They have always shown their awareness of school needs. We are in- deed indebted to our schoolboard for being instrumental in permitting our High School to be first evaluated and then formally accredited by the Middle State Association of High Schools and Colleges. We are certainly proud of our schoolboard and we sincerely hope that they are proud of us and our accomplish- ments over the past twelve years, The students of Pitcairn High School are very grateful for the high quality of educational leader- ship evidenced by the many achievements of our Schoolboard.
