Ji' SOPHOMORE CLASS OFFICERS-P. Thur We of the sophomore class look back on a very successful and pleasant year in Pitcairn High School. The class officers that led us so well were Lee Africa, President, Janet Brown, Vice Presi- dent, and Paul Thurn, Secretary-Treasurer. Our class advisers were Mr. Snyler and Miss Baldy. As the sophomore class we sold football lineups for all of our home games. Some of the other proiects which were done during the year were the selling of Cargo's Candy for Christmas and Easter, bake sales, and a few dances, includ- ing a George Washington Ball. We were well represented on the high school football team. Two of our boys, Jerry Borst and Kenny Mignogna, played first string. The others, including Harry Edwards, Russell Agostini, Robert Shearer, Frank Burick, Edward Clinton, Jimmy Stevic, Paul Szekely, and Norman Mulchan, were substitutes for the varsity and played junior var- sity football. Our other contributions to Pitcairn High's sports world were in basketball and base- ball. On the basketball team we were repre- sented by Lee Africa, Jim Stevic, Edward Clinton, Ken Mignogna, Dave Lukehart, Bob Shearer, Pat- sy Moiqa, and Bob Moon. Lee Africa and Kenny Mignogna were on the varsity squad. Terry Zim- merman was the manager of the varsity team. We also participated in the gym exhibition. n, l.. Africa, Mr. Snyder, J. Brown Three of our girls, Mary Ann Borst, Ethel Adams, and Dolores Lynn, are cheerleaders. Patricia Turner was chosen as a majorette for next year. Our representatives on student coun- cil this year were Helen Rae Graham, Judy Millar, Patsy Turner, and Lee Africa. Our class has also contributed to the band, the members being as follows: Patsy Turner, Dolores Lynn, Bernard Gei- ger, Terry Zimmerman, Lee Gray, Bob Moon, Dave Lukehart, Wayne Walthour, Paul Thurn, Barbara Closson, Nancy Hurst and Eugene Hreha. Since a number of new clubs have been added to our extra-curricular activities, the soph- omore class has been very quick to respond. Those that we ioined were Varsity Club, Glee Club, Tri Hi Y, Hi Y, Girls' Leaders Club, Press Club, F. H.A., Library Club, College Club, Boys' Leaders Club, American Legion Award Club. For our assembly this year the class pre- sented a few skits written by members of the class. A few of our talented classmates also per- formed. Some new additions to the class from Mon- roeville were Norman Mulchan, Dorothy Jae, Norma Sterling, Helen Rae Graham, Donna Clos- son, Carl Hahn, and Charlotte Overly. We conclude this year with a feeling of time well spent.
