THE JUNI September 1, 19453, was a memorable date for the present junior Class of Pitcairn. VVe were no longer babies but were ufreshiesi, in the high school. It seemed so enormous after grade school, and it took quite a while for us to learn our way around. Our Freshmen year was a busy one-get- ting initiated into the school, clubs and various other organizations. Oh! Those initiations, we shall never forget them. VV e have our unforgettable memories of that year, namely, the many enjoyable assembly pro- grams, dances, and our Freshmen Class party. Before any of us realized it, the school year was Hnished. Nineteen forty-four found us no longer the babies of the school, but Sophomores. There were a few new faces of students who had come down from Patton Township. The Sophomores had a class party at the Community Club, which was a real success. We also sponsored a dance at the gym, everyone had a wonderful time. Many of our students participated in the Minstrel and Operetta, and we found out just how talented some of our classmates were. VVe were very proud of DeLorse Barber and Kitty Lou McNeil when they were chosen as cheerleaders. With all the excitement of foot- ball and basketball games, dances, plays, etc., the school year came to a happy end. Nineteen forty-five was a Very important year in our high school lives. After we got our Retrospect GR CLASS LOOKS FORWARD school rings, everyone in the junior Class could be seen polishing his ring a dozen times a day. There was a lot of hand waving, but just to show the rings off. We contributed 9 football and 7 basketball players to the school teams. The Singiser broth- ers were a great pair on the basketball floor. The juniors sold magazines to raise nioncy for the ever traditional junior-Senior prom. We made a net profit of 3196.11 We also sponsored a dance at the gym for the purpose of obtaining money for the prom. In thc middle of December we juniors had our class party at the junior Community Club. It was acclaimed a success by everyone present. Toward the latter part of the year, the jun- iors presented a play entitled 'KQuiet Pleasefl The play was a comedy which took place out of doors. Each member of the cast played his part very well. The play was not only a finan- cial success, but a great entertainment. The high-light of the year was the Prom which was held on Friday, May 10, at the Edge- wood Country Club. Ben Bodenis Orchestra played for the occasion. The night was perfect for a prom, and everyone who attended is anx- iously awaiting the time he can go to his second prom. lt was a night that will never be for- gotten by any of us. We juniors now look forward to next year, when we shall be Seniors, the upperclassmen of Pitcairn High School. -28
