Steve has excelled as an out- standing tackle for three years. Because of his fine athletic record, he has received a football scholar- ship to the University of South Carolina and, un- doubtedly will become a great Gamecock. Donna Poteat received the highest score on the Miss Betty Crocker Test given at Pisgah earlier in the year. With her knowledge, homemaking will be a lot easier. Best wishes for success in the kitchen. SUCCEED. IS THE NEED — TO ACHIEVE. HAVE MET THE NEED. Sharon Thompson was Pisga h’s nominee this year for the Marie-Schenk Scholarship. Among her many activities during this senior year, Sharon has excelled as President of the Beta Club. She is certainly the type of person that makes progress in her efforts. Because of her fine record, because of her high spirit, and because of her wonderful personality the PISGAHTEER salutes Sharon Thompson for a job well done. These fine gentlemen, pictured at the left, are the Morehead Nominees selected from the Senior Class last fall: Fred Warren, Jeffrey Burrell, Eddie Estep, David Brown, and Charlie Brown. To be a Morehead Nominee is an accom- plishment that the PISGAHTEER readily recognizes and congratulates. REG SEES ee eGR ea To excel in Student Council is a job that re- quires much time and effort. For their efforts in this area, Charlie Brown and Sharon Thompson were chosen as nominees for the Hurst Scholarship given by the United States Senate. Fred Warren and Jeff Burrell went to Boy’s State last summer to explore government and its complex functions. Being chosen to participate in Boy’s State activities is indeed a learning experience and a fine honor. Because of her good citizenship qualities, Nancy McCracken was chosen as the D.A.R. Good Citizen from Pisgah. All of these people mentioned have been outstanding in their Senior Class and the PISGAHTEER wishes them the best of luck in the future. : The Champion Scholarship nominees were Miriam Freel, Chuck King, Mike Jones, Jimmy Gregg, Ronnie Donaldson, and Jeff Burrell (not pictured). All-State band students were Jerry Ledford, Lynn Caldwell, Tim Pearson, Sharon Clark, Randy Snelson, Charlayna Jacobs, and Bobby Nix. Miriam Freel and Nancy McCracken went to Girls’ State to explore government and its many activities. The PISGAHTEER salutes these two girls for an outstanding accomplishment. We have tasted the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. : For the Seniors, this year ha s been filled with the excitement of graduation, involving the selection of rings, keys, and invitations; in addition, there was the change in color from _ white caps and gowns to the great red and black of Pisgah, adding to graduation pageantry. Juniors became excited as their second year at PHS got underway with various activities that are special to Juniors. All eyes and ears, Sophomores dreamed of their Time as Juniors and Seniors. _ This annual is composed not only of hard work, but also of tears, sweat, headaches, and frustration; however, I have enjoyed every minute of it. Hopefully, this Pisgahteer will mean as much to you as it does to me. I would like to thank the staff for my opportunity to serve __as Editor and for their co-operation. Special thanks go to Mrs. Churm and Donna; sincere appreciation to the administration and faculty for their understanding and help. Sincerely, Dedication The Annual Staff of Pisgah Senior High School takes great pride in dedicating the V edition of the Pisgahteer to Mr. Harold Singleton. Besides teaching world history and world geography, Mr. Singleton has been active in Junior Civitan, track, girls’ and junior varsity basketball, and junior varsity football. His contributions in these areas have sparked greater enthusiasm among the stu- dents. The dedication of this annual is a small token of our thanks. We wish for him a happy stint with “Uncle Sam”’ and a fast return to PHS. 7 i7 ah - ) F 4 : 7 J cf ol . a vy es ital ; : as i Sui) ‘i i ud - q ane a oer PISGAH HIGH SCHOOL MED if 5 ER ret § tise 5 doe BF “2 | x ————.
