Bear Country? What is Bear Country? It is a large, densely populated area. Within its borders, bears of all walks of life live and mingle. These bears are active in numerous activities. Their striving for excellence, along with skill and ability, has spread the fame of Black Bears far and wide. There are many well known, popular sports bears whose abilities and efforts have enabled them to be very successful. Outnumbering the sports bears by a large margin are the bear fans. These fans are filled with spirit and pep and are very loyal too. Bear fans are recognized for their high goals in sportsmanship. The numer¬ ous club bears work to make accomplishments that will be re¬ warding for themselves and also for their school and communi¬ ty. Student bears participate not only in clubs and extracurri¬ cular activities, but they also spend a great deal of time study¬ ing and preparing themselves to become the leaders of tomor¬ row. Along with all these serious bears are large numbers of sweetheart bears. These represent the fact that bears are studi¬ ous and also lovable. The faculty bears are very much a part of Bear Country for they hold the future of the bears in their “paws”. A most important segment of the bear population is the group of Papa and Mama bears. They provide more than just food and clothing; they bestow the love and encourage¬ ment that only parents can give. Do not forget the all impor¬ tant cubs for they are the bears of tomorrow. Bears come rn all shapes, types, and sizes; yet they all strive to make Bear Country a great place in which to live. Through the enthusiasm and dexterity of all bears, the great¬ est school that has ever been in Western North Carolina has been built, occupied, and famed to all who have heard its name. Pisgah Senior High School is the very heart and soul of Bear Country. What is Bear Country? This is Bear Country! . . . 3
