1 H Pisgah Senior High School was Hrst a dream of every parent in Haywood County: that his c would have the finest education possible. But soon, this came into being when it was decided to consolidate seven high schools, Canton, Bethel, Fines Creek, Waynesville, Crabtree, Clyde, and Reynolds, into two new county high schools. The school in east Haywood becarhe Pisgah Senior High School. In August, 1966, the six-building high school was not entirely completed. But still, our faculty moved in three days before the sophomores, juniors, and seniors to really bring life to P.H.S. They accomplished registration very efficiently and tried to keep outof the workmen’s way. They were now ready to greet the first Pisgah High students. And the students ? The students were most eager to have a look at this much talked about and long anticipated school. Since the construction crew had forbidden any exploration on registration day, there were few students who had seen the new school. Over ' 900 students were soon roaming about, consulting maps, and inquiring directions from the hospi¬ tality committee. After the first day, there were many tired students from so much walking, much bewilderment, and a few mixed-up schedules. But there was one thing all the students agreed upon, that they had the best school in the state. As classes began, activities also started. With the reorganization of clubs. The annual became THE PISGAHTEER, and the paper became THE BRUIN TRAIL. The beginning of activities at P.H.S. really made the consolidation of the schools much easier.
