Carolyn Stamey won the Miss Betty Crocker contest. Gerald Hamlett was elected president of District 10 in the state ' s D.E.C.A. Clubs. Pisgah’s First Graduating Class Wins Many Awards Jimmy Poston was selected to represent Pisgah High in the Shrine Bowl. Bobbie Dean Brown and Jean Rice have attended both elementary school and high school without miss¬ ing a single day. They have the ad¬ mirable record of twelve years perfect attendance. Mrs. Owen ' s bulletin board won first prize in the contest sponsored by the Student Council during Consolidation Week. Scholarship Nominees and Essay Award Winners Are Members of the Senior Class Lynn Boone and Margaret Miller were chosen by the American Legion Auxilary to attend Girls ' State. The American Legion was represented by Dennis Grant and Lynn Sorrells. Carl Stanley ' s essay, The Importance of Study , won second place in the National Beta Club Magazine Essay Contest. Scholarship nominees from Pisgah in¬ clude Becky Campbelk, Nancy Lance, Bush Cathey, Judy Westmoreland; Lynn Sorrells, Gary Singleton, Charles Brock, Gail Cody; Mickey Cable, Gene Michael, and Carl Stamey. 1 ?9
