Track and Golf Teams Look Forward To A Promising Year The track team plays an important part in Pisgah High School ' s sports. The members par¬ ticipate in such activities as pole vaulting, broad jumping, the mile relays, and high jumping. We are sure that these boys will represent Pisgah well in all their meets. The track team is sponsored by Mr. Pat Powell. The golf team is looking forward to a very successful first year. Pisgah has received from the four schools real veterans on the green. The golf team is sponsored by Mr. Boyd Allen. Members of the golf team include Tim Jacobs, Paul Brook¬ shire, Mike Bull, Sam Thompson; Loyd Massie, Gary Shepherd, Billy Trull, and Rego Jones. 125

The members of the baseball team include David Conard, Jack Holland, Mike Matthews, Melvin Robinson, Larry Goodwin, Carroll Jones, Eddie Miller; Robert Smart, Jerry Henson, Walter Brown, Steve Hardin, Noland Smathers; Woody Fish, Sydney Willard, Mickael Greene, Floyd Rickman, and Jimmy Henson. Baseball Team Headed For A Winning Season Although as of this publication the baseball team has not played a game , still there seems to be an air of assurance about the members. The schools have united to make a winning combination and we are sure that the success shall continue in baseball. Many fine athletes are combining their efforts on the baseball team. With Mr. Bill Stamey ' s coaching, student support, and the fine playing exhibited by the boys, Pisgah will walk off with the Conference title again! Mr. Bobby Holcomb COACHES COMBINE EFFORTS TO CREATE EXCELLENT SPORTS PROGRAM Mr. Bobby Holcomb is a graduate of Western Carolina College and is coach of the boys varsity basketball team. Mr. Bill Stamey graduated from Appalachian State Teacher ' s College. He is the backfield coach in football, junior varsity basketball coach, and baseball coach. Mr. Boyd Allen is athletic director and head football coach of Pisgah Senior High. He is a graduate of Wake Forest College. Mr. Pat Powell graduated from State College in 1964. He is football coach and coach of the track team. Mr. Joe Turner is a 1950 Western Carolina graduate. He coaches the girls ' basketball team.
