Pisgah ' s Junior Varsity basketball team de¬ serves all the praise they can get. The success of basketball games in years to come depends on these boys. This year Pisgah fans have been shown just how great J.V. ' s ca,n be. We have good reason to be proud of each member of the team. They have displayed wonderful teamwork and sportsmanship in this first year of consolidation. With no defeats to blemish their record, our J.V. ' s are ranked No. 1 in the Blue Ridge Con¬ ference. Coach Bill Stamey has this to say; ' ' They ' re great! I ' ve got a fine bunch of boys that work well together. They Can . . . Because They Think They Can Members of the Junior Varsity team are: Carey Harrison, Mike Matthews, Ray Hemphill, Tom Braddish, Walter Brown, David Conard and Danny Long; Rego Jones, Jimmy Powell, Robert Allen, Steve Hardin, Ronnie Deaver, John Plemmons, MiJce Ray and Bobby Kearse. 120

Pisgah’s Future Football Success Is In Their Hands. Anticipating the start of the game, the boys sport sparkling clean uniforms, but they won’t stay that way long! Under the leadership of Mr. Joe Turner our Bear Cubs practiced and played hard this season. They won two of their games, lost two, and tied jne, but they showed much potential as future Black Bears. Being on the Bear Cub, or ’’B” Team, pre¬ pares boys for future positions on the Black Bear Team. Pisgah is proud of these boys and the part they have playec and will continue to play in de- i eloping the sports reputation of our school. t 19

The Bears have attained the title of Blue Ridge Conference Champions. Pisgah High is the only team with two boys on the All Western North Carolina team. They are Dennis Grant and Larry Goodwin. Also, Pisgah has three boys on the Blue-White Team. They are Dennis Grant, Larry Goodwin, and Harold Edwards. Other boys whose efforts have contributed much to the Bear ' s success are Eddie Miller, Carroll Jones, Jack Hol¬ land, Charles Bryson, Jimmy Poston, and Billy Trull. With a good bench to be proud of, Mr. Hol¬ comb played Hayes Powell, Terry Brown, Paul Gillis, Melvin Robinson, Marvin Parrish, and Jerry Henson.
