Chccrclub Advisors: Miss Haley. Miss Beck, and Miss Sterling I seem to be the sound waves of a million voices finding one expression in the dusky twilight. The voices drift up and ripple out like a myriad of stones catapulted into a single pond. Each wave meets its sister and their sounds mingle. And so I become stronger and more fervent. Beat Troy they cry me. Beat Troy. And as I drift upward. I look back to their faces, so tense, with eyes brightly sparkling. They are the faces of young girls on their way to becoming women. OTHER PEOPLE.... It is not easy for a young person to make a decision to leave his home and his friends in order to spend a whole year in another county, in an environment which is new for him. But that is also an excellent opportunity to experience a different life-style, to get acquainted with new people, and to try to live and work with them. My name is Ivan Naumov, and I come from Skopje. Yugoslavia. Here is Piqua I live with the John Roemer family. My stay in Piqua as well as my senior year schooling at Piqua Central will soon he over. I look back to the months past, and I find them unforgettable, a very valuable experience of my life. I am never going to forget the friendly town of Piqua. the Piqua Central High School, and all the people that I had the opportunity, to meet here. It came to me stronger than ever that people. I regardless of where they come from are only, and only, people: they are all human. I tried to understand the Piqua people and to be understood by them. • I tried to live as a part of this community. It wasn't always easy to adjust to the new way of life, but I tried, and the friends that I made helped me. Now. at the end of my stay I can say that I learned a lot of new things, exchanged a lot of thoughts, and I'll leave with the feeling that Piqua will always stay in my heart. Maybe, some day. I'll come to visit Piqua again. (I hope there is going to be a new high school building by then.) I have been Piqua now for several months. Everything in the beginning was very different because in Brazil I live in a city with 7 million people, but now I'm getting used to Piqua. The school was my first friend, and in the school I found my best friends. The school activities are much bigger here, and I never worked and read so much in my life before. The only thing I think is that all Americans work too much, but I think the truth is that I’m too lazy. I love my family, the Shanelys. very much, and I know I will miss them and my friends a lot when I go back to my country. Connie Ronn is my name. 30
