Four of the boys, accompanied by their advisor, Lester George, made the trip to Kansas City last fall to the national F. F. A. convention. This trip. their banquet. a pest hunt. and a campaign to fill their treasury have been the high spots of their group activity this year. Only those students enrolled in the machine shop courses are eligible for membership. Purposes of this club are to promote good citizenship, develop mechanical skills, create workmanlike attitudes and encourage the study of industrial methods and techniques in the machine trades. Through the cooperation of the Piquonian staff, the Micrometer Club was given the concessions for the first five home basketball games. This venture was a financial success. The club, which meets twice a month, heard a number of important guest speakers during the year and were encouraged by their remarks relative to the machine shop program. The club motto is, He who has a trade. hath an estate. Officers for the 49 50 term are Carl Wion, president: ,lack Stewart. vice president: Ralph Hines, treasurer: Ed Cox, secretary. Club advisors are Mr. Dee Petty and Mr. Carl Stewart. They and their students look forward to a very happy year in l950 5l, when they will be in the new addition to the high school. They say, Our many thanks to the people with foresight who planned our program: to the school administration and the general public for such a fine trades and industry building. I: Elwood Burns.
