A Hsww-1'rnw e-.1 Gongratulations This year, we, of the Picada staff, wish to extend our congratulations to Rev. Fr. Robert Von Kaenel, who is celebrating his Q5th year in the priesthood. Pastor of St. Mary's Church, and principal of St. Mary's elementary school and Piqua Catholic High School, he is known and honored for his all-out efforts to benefit Piqua's youth. Much work has gone into making Piqua Catholic one of the leading high schools of this district. Father has not overlooked an opportunity to assist the teen-agers. Father Von Kaenel was born in Marion, Ohio, on May 9. His formal education which began at St. Mary's Elementary and High School in Marion, was continued at the University of Dayton. Study for the priesthood took him to St. Gregory Seminary, and his 'final schooling was at Mt. St. Mary's Seminary. He was ordained a priest on June 9, 1928, by Archbishop Henry Moeller. His assignments as assistant pastor took him to St. Mary Church, Holy Name Church, St. Matthew Church, St. Stephen Church, all in Cincinnati, and Sacred Heart Church in Dayton. He taught at Elder and St. Lawrence in Cincinnati, and Sacred Heart in Dayton. Father came to Piqua in 1943. His duties here have included the administration of two mission parishes. Over a period of years a survey of several mission areas was conducted. This survey resulted in the organization of three new mission parishes one of which was St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus in Covington. Father celebrated the first Mass there Christmas, 1950. Now, along with our congratulations we say, Thank you for everything, good luck in all your endeavors, and please pray for us, Father.
