Fitness Skills Lead to Better Health. Any preparation for a successful future must include physical fitness. The goal of physical education encompasses both the development of athletic skills and achievement of high degrees of fitness. Exercises and rigorous skill tests emphasize the attainment and maintenance of physical fitness. Mr. Brad Griffith and Miss Judi Naylor teach the organized classes of physical education and health. The girls are bussed to the Junior High for their class. Coach Griffith explains the techniques of doing push-ups to his P.E. class. Grammar gives way to expression as students mature in their need for communication. Drawing from great books by contemporary and classical authors, the student learns, then creates. The English department is headed by Mrs. Carolyn Sawka, well-known by every Piper student for her teaching tactics on the eight parts of speech. What is a noun? Mrs. Jimmie Blowers and Mrs. Maryanne Remer make up the rest of the depart- ment and teach the underclassmen the time points of grammar and literature. Mas.
