II V; 4 Kaleidoscope Of Talent . . . On behalf of the entire student body at Pioneer, the Annual Staff takes great pride in dedicating the 1982 TORCH to a person whose devotion to school activities and love of Pioneer students, has propelled her to the top in her field. She was born in Los Angeles but has lived in Whittier all of her life. After graduating from Whit- tier High School, she enrolled at Pepperdine Univer- sity and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in social science. She later attended Whittier College where she obtained a Masters degree in education and earned a Masters degree in administrative services, just this year. She has been very active throughout her years at school. At Whittier High School she was a Varsity Yell Leader, a CSF Life Member, and Gold Seal Award recipient. During her years at Whittier Col- lege she served as a student body officer. Since she began teaching at Pioneer, in September of 1977, she has made numerous contributions to the school. She teaches classes in U.S. History, Liv- ing Skills, Mexican American Studies, Health and P.E. She also serves as pepster advisor and spends a great deal of time working with all of the pepsters. Last year, she helped the pepsters win the Magic Mountain competition thereby giving them the title Southern California Champions . Other extra cur- ricular activities she devotes time to include Titan - ette Review, Omega School, supervisor at dances and attendance at all sporting events. She enjoys sailing and boating when time permits but finds the most pleasure spending time with her husband, Greg. In appreciation of the dedicated service she has continually given to Pioneer and all of the students, we dedicate this 1982 TORCH to Sandy Thorstenson i i Mi ' riu 7 J iiis ' i AL ' fcwv; ,
