Outstanders There are many outstanding people at Pioneer and fifteen of these people are Pioneer ' s C. S.F. Life Members. C.S.F. , standing for California Scholastic Federation, is a group of students who are able to attain grades totalling to ten points per semester, counting A ' s as three points, B ' s as one point and being disqualified for anything lower than a C . The C.S.F. Life Members are students who qualified for C out of six semesters with one of them being in their senior year . Other outstanding students are Anthony Martinez and Susan Mill- are Pioneer ' s Boy and Girl State Representatives. Anthony represented ui last summer while Susan will represent us this summer. Last but not least is Desiree Jaw who was chosen for the D. A. R. award. She has been extremely involved in our school and community and greatly deserves this award. These students are just a few of the people who make up the fantastic student body at Pioneer. C.S.F. Life Members. Superior Seniors Secure Special Awards This year, as always, fifteen Seniors from Pioneer were honored by being selected as Bank of America Award winners. This prestigious award is presented annually to those seniors who have displayed outstanding ability in one of eleven categories . These include Art, Drama, Music, English, Foreign Languages , Social Studies, Laboratory Science, Mathematics, Business, Home Economics , and Trades and Industrial . Eleven of these people are given certificates in their specific categories, and four are awarded plaques for their general areas. The plaque winners then become eligible to go on to competition with other winners throughout the area . Those receiving plaques were Albert Gonzalez (Fine Arts), Gloria Yoakam (Liberal Arts), Lawrence Barraza (Science and Mathematics), and Gregory Garcia (Vocational Arts) . All of the awardees were selected on the basis of their grade point average, and recommendations by teachers and Guidance personnel .
