The fall play, directed by T.R. Linton, was a very suc- cessful and humorous com- edy. The play consisted of a varied and colorful number of actors and actresses. It was about a derailment of a train outside an almost abandoned station. The pas- sengers from the train were forced to stay at the station all the dark and stormy night where there was no food or bedding while the train was being put back on the track. Pioneer Presents “Once Upon a Mattress” The Musical Comedy, “Once Upon a Mattress” was presented to the appeal of all who went. While Prince Dauntless waits for his mother, Queen Aggravain, to choose him a bride, the en- tire kingdom remains un- married. Dauntless’ father is mute because of a magical spell but continues to chase the unwed girls around the palace. Princess Winifred saves the day by passing the Queen’s test. She couldn’t sleep on twenty mattresses supposedly because of a small pea beneath the bot- tom mattress. Above: Dauntless, played by Terry Gray, pleads with his overbearing mother.
