PHS Enjoys Convocations Donna and Devin receive the Freedom Shrine given by the Breakfast Exchange Club of Logansport. The students have always looked forward to par- ticipating in the convocations, which spice the school routine at PHS. Last fall the student body witnessed the presentation of jackets to our letter- men by the athletic administration. In addition, periodically the Panthers were recharged by spirit rallies featuring every imaginable stunt and trick. In the December convocation the Thespians presented a Christmas play, “Puppy Love.” Displaying their acting abilities—and don’t forget the poise of their well-behaved dog! — they sparked the Christmas spirit at PHS. Students were exposed to additional cultural programs by the touring music departments of Logansport, Covington, and Mentone. PHS tasted music types from Bach to Hair. The culminating convocation came in May, when the accumulated awards of the year were presented under the sponsorship of the Student Council. When the student body saw the myriad awards won by the seniors, they knew they were saying “goodbye” to a great class. Senior athletes receive their long awaited jackets. Covington’s band presented an hour of music. HARRISON FUNERAL HOME Max and Joann Metzger Royal Center 8

Song in my Heart” Makes Finally, the day of the Sweethearts’ Ball had come! As she fussed with her hair and nails, she thought of the air about PHS this last week. She mused about Mrs. Key, who had been busy check- ing over last minute details, and committees that had stayed late after school almost nightly. The Sunshine girls had decorated late Friday night and finished Saturday morning. She smiled as she remembered the silence of the girls when they beheld the finished ballroom. It seemed almost a miracle that the same place that fed boisterous students almost every day could be transformed into such a beautiful dreamland! ... But enough of this dreaming, Jayne! Tonight you will be crowned queen!
