Mathematics . . . the Key to the Future Practically anything can be proved through matif- ematics, so we need to be adept in this most im- portant subject. Courses range from general math to contemporary geometry, Using special equipment for work at the blackboard, Charles Miles demonstrates to his contemporary geometry class a few of the things that one can do with circles. Mrs. Alice Stroud teaches courses in general math, albgebra, contem- porary geometry, and trigonometry. Here she demonstrates the method for solving factional problems to a general math class. Mathematics may be the key to the future, but it sure is difficult to open the door, thinks a class in Algebra I. 9

At Pink Hill we offer courses in general science, biology, chemistry and physics, These courses offer a good background for advanced study. Actual viewing is much more effective than the best descriptive sentence, Gerald Pickett studies the vascular bundles in a plant stem under a micro- scope so that his biology drawing can be completed. Chemistry experiments along with intense classroom study lay a firm foundation for many professions in this modern space age. Mr. Thomas Salter is the in- structor in this course. Our most advanced science course is physics. Here Larry Weber, Steve Ward, Johnny Turner, and Ralph Herron experiment to find out how the forces of nature act and how we can control them,

We offer courses in world and American history, world geography, sociology, and economics to enable us to meet this goal, History courses under Mrs. Margaret Ann Tyndall do not always pertain exclusively to past happenings. No, no, no! Mead defeated Lee at the battle of Gettysburg in 1864, said Janice Merle Noble to Judy G. Blizzard as they studied their U.S. His- tory lesson. In economics and sociology class, Raymond Murphy and Kenneth Heath point out a special place of interest.
