LANGUAGE Through the use of carefully selected texts and materials, the Foreign Language program tries to enhance all four skills of language learning: listen- ing comprehension, speaking, reading, and writ- ing. Another of the department's objectives is to expose students to the cultures of specific coun- tries. This is acheived by the use of video-tapes purchased with a grant from the Dodge Founda- tion. The Rider College competition offers stu- dents the opportunity to exercise their knowl- edge of language. The results of the illustrate the success of the department. l. Jane S.
