The growth of an individual is a threefold process. lt encompasses mental maturity, spiritual enlightenment, and physical progress. At Pingry, all three of these phases have been properly empha- sized so as to mold well-rounded and open-minded individuals. Academically Pmgrys curriculum and fine faculty are responsible for the mental growth of the students Through a diversified and highly individual type of tram mg the boys at Pmgry are famnliarlzed with the sublect matter and are encouraged to draw their own con clusions The mind at Pmgry while guided along fixed principles is given unusual freedom of thought and expression so as to encourage its growth and acqusltlon of knowledge Spiritual growth is not neglected at Pmgry either Morning chapel services usually led by upperclassmen provide insights into various religious Ideas and serve to set the mood for the days work Religion ethics and philosophy are Included in the English courses to further acquaint the students with the spiritual side of life Finally the growth of the body a never ending pro cess is also given direct attention Daily athletic periods and an unusual variety of sports from squads teaching fundamentals to experienced varsity teams are the back bone of Pmgrys athletic program Boys are encouraged to actively participate In a sport thus completing the three phases of their growth Therefore Pmgry does not turn out one sided mdu viduals Interested in only one aspect of life but men having a liberal view who are more prepared to take their places in the larger community of the world L . . , . , I ' .
