lass Prophecy The other day as I sat in history class my mind wandered off into the far future. It was in the year I967. I had Iseen away in Washington working in the White I-louse. and I had iust returned to my home at Pinewood. The town was still small. but it seemed to be running over with strange people. As I walked down the street I felt a hand on my shoulder. Turning around. whom should I see but Anne Ridgill. She looked very business-like and I soon Iound out that she had been working in the office of the Governor in Columbia. Before long she had me informed on all the latest gossip. I-Ienry Flynn Griffin had married a millionaire's daughter, ond had really piled up the money. He had succeeded in buying Madison Square Garden in New York. Clara Corbett, after having been engaged several times. had finally married a very commendable young man. She and her handsome husband were the proud parents of three sets of twins. Furman Corbett had been a maior in the army for ten years, but now he had retired with a very satisfactory income, which his wife was making good use of. Betty Block was a music teacher. She had music students from all over the coun- try, including some of the movie stars from I-Iollywood. Bobby Kirven had finally accepted the invitation to be Governor of California. I-Ie was asked to be President of the United States, but had decided to let someone else have that small honor. After wandering around for ten years Boo Barwick had finally settled down. She was staying at home with her five boys cooking three meals every day. Last but not least, Bill Reynolds was running a small hamburger stand out on the edge of town. I-Ie was in bad need of money. since he had his wife, eight children. and his mother-in-law to support. lt's time that I start getting my mind back on my history, but it was wonderful to look into the things of tomorrow.
