Those enrolled in these courses not only learn grammar and how to write the language but also to converse in it intelligently. All language students benefit greatly from Pineville High's new language lab, where, with the aid of records and tapes, they have an opportunity to learn authentic pronunciations and accents. Careers in radio, television, law, government, and business all demand skill in public speaking. Speech and debate activities develop poise and self-confidence that remain a lifetime. In almost every type of endeavor there is a need to be able to voice opinions well in order to effectively present views to others.
