THE 1959 ANNUAL STAFF AND WE SENIOR CLASS OF PINEHURST HIGH SCHOOL PRESENT THE REBEL 1959 ALLISON GRAMELSBACH Editor-in-Chief Pinehurst North Carolina DEDICATION We, the 1959 Rebel Staff and the SeniorClass, have dedicated this year'sannual to our beloved super- intendent, MR. LEWIS CANNON. Behind this dedication stand fond memories of, and a great love for, a man who has given his life to young people and the solving of their problems. From our great store of memories, we gather pictures of a faithful high school sports' fan; of an always fair, sympathetic princi- pal; and of a ready smile and a friendly heart. This dedication is small tribute to a respected leader and an understanding friend, but we back it up with the heartfelt gratitude of the entire graduating class for the many trying hours spent with us in ac- complishing—a job well done ! HOME ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT Here in this large cheerful room the Home Economics' girls learn the arts of homemaking. Many husbands have probably been made into happier men by the wisdom instilled in their wives through Miss Burns' teaching. INDUSTRIAL ARTS DEPARTMENT One can almost always hear the hum of a saw coming from Mr. Tucker's busy shop. Many boys have learned here the singular joy that comes from working constructively with their hands, and the projects they turn out-stunning is the word!
